What is the impact of the author's choice to reference Mrs. Sommers's life before her marriage
in paragraph 4?

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

By referencing Mrs. Sommers's past life in paragraph 4, Chopin gives a glimpse of the posh life enjoyed by her before her marriage.

Explanation:

'A Pair of Silk Stockings' is a short story written by Kate Chopin. The story is about Mrs. Sommers, who has unexpectedly become an owner of fifteen dollars.

In paragraph 4, Chopin gives a glimpse of Mrs. Sommers past life; a life before she was married. This glimpse suggests that Mrs. Sommers enjoyed a luxurious life before she became Mrs. Sommers. This impacts the readers by enabling them to connect with Mrs. Sommers. After marriage, she has become a careful, and wise mother and wife; she never thinks of her past life. But after she possessed fifteen dollars, and touched silk stockings, she couldn't help herself but give in the temptation of buying them and enjoy few moments of luxury.

a. preparing for a test
b. preparing to host a party or an event
c. cleaning your room or your home

Answers

I chose A and B,  the steps are below.

If I were preparing for a test then I would first start off by getting a pen and pencil, or some other way I could write my information down. Next, I would begin researching the subject that the test is based on and find the most important parts about it so I could be sure that I knew how the test would go. Then, once all my research was completed I would put the information in an order that would make sense to me and make it easier for me to understand.

If I were preparing to host a party or a big event, then the first thing I would do is think about just why I am showing this event. Then I would choose decorations with the colors that would seem to fit the type of event I am creating. Then, I would make invites, or flyers with dates to spread the word so more people (or just the people I invite according to whether or not I chose the invitation route) would show up. Once I did this I would set up my props or what I have to use to make my event and put them where I would feel they belong. After that I would make sure everything is set up the way I want, and then wait for people to show up and begin the event.

I offered two examples so that it would be easier to choose, depending on which one you might want to use or whichever one seems better to you.

Hope this helps.

Please refer to story B2 and answer the following question. Which idea can be supported from the first paragraph?
a. Ms. Pugh is a bitter woman.
b. Ms. Pugh is an old woman.
c. Ms. Pugh has been through a lot.
d. Ms. Pugh was a world class ballerin

Answers

Answer:

c. Ms. Pugh has been through a lot.

Explanation:

In the short story "Ursula Pugh," the speaker/ narrator mentioned in the first paragraph about the protagonist Ursula Pugh. The short yet informative detail describes how Ms. Pugh had changed so drastically.

In that first paragraph, Ms. Pugh is described as someone who's been through a lot. The speaker reveals, "At an earlier time in her life, Ursula Pugh was – before injuries, before a disastrous marriage, before the death of her beloved  sister – a glorious dancer." The fact that the narrator uses "was" and "at earlier times" signifies that whatever Ms. Pugh was before, she no longer is now. And the "injuries, ... disastrous marriage... death of her beloved sister" are all hard times for Ms. Pugh.

Thus, the correct answer is option c.

Why are some theories (like cell theory or plate tectonics) more widely accepted then
the theory of evolution, even though they are both scientific theories (and evolution has
more scientific data available)?

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

These theories have all been proven with evidence and widely accepted around the world unlike the theory of evolution. The theory of evolution can be argued that there's no proof discoving any human evolving. Many have been stated but all of these have been proven false. If evolution is actually true then the fossil records should show continuous (although gradual) changes from the bottom to top layers. And this doesn't show. All of these animals in the fossil record appear fully developed simultaneously and very suddenly. In fact, just the human body is so complicated that it can't just evolve. That's why Christianity is so widely accepted because everything shouts that something made it. So to answer your question the theory of evolution can be argued and cannot really be proven unlike some of the other theories.

Unlike the idea of evolution, all of these hypotheses have evidence to support them and are widely recognized worldwide. It might be countered that there is no evidence supporting the hypothesis of human evolution.

What is the theory of evolution?

Many things have been said, but they have all been disproven. The fossil records should reveal continuous (albeit slow) changes from the bottom to top strata if evolution is genuinely true.

These creatures all appear to have fully formed simultaneously and very quickly in the fossil record.

The human body alone is so intricate that it cannot simply develop. As a result, unlike some other ideas, the theory of evolution can be contested but cannot be conclusively established.

Therefore, countered that there is no evidence supporting the hypothesis of human evolution.

When it is damp outside, older folks often feel __________________________-.

Answers

Answer: Cold

Explanation:

Older folks are more prone to feeling cold than younger ones so a change in temperature outside such as it becoming damp, will lead to them feeling cold.

Older folks are this way due to the fact that humans experience lower metabolism as they grow older as well as skin thinning. Lower metabolism means that they will be producing a relatively lower amount of heat as a by-product of aerobic respiration in order to maintain their internal temperature.

Skin thinning will also reduce the layer of skin available to insulate the skin from outside temperatures.
