Read the excerpt from Sampson’s speech in We Beat the Street.

Classes lasted every day until five, and after dinner they went to required tutoring sessions, where each student got help in areas of need. Their test scores began to rise. In the evening the students were required to study. No television was allowed during study hours, and bedtime was mandatory at ten P.M., which none of them liked very much.

"This feels like boot camp,” Sampson whispered to Rameck one night after lights out.

what is the active voice of the sentence " A house has been bought by her" ?

Answers

Answer:

She has bought a house.

Explanation:

Active voice is when the subject does the action and acting it out. It is different from a passive voice in that the subject is not acted upon by the verb and that the subject comes before the verb in the sentence.

In the sentence "A house has been bought by her," the subject "her" is places much after the action "bought". This makes it a passive voice. And so, to make it into an active voice, the subject will come before the verb, with a change in the pronoun "she" instead of "her". And the object will be at the end of the sentence.

Thus, the final sentence in the active voice will become-

"She has bought a house."

Compound sentence is the answer

The sentence "He left in a hurry after he got a phone call, but he came back five minutes later" is a compound-complex sentence.

A compound-complex sentence has, at least, two independent clauses and one dependent clause.

An independent clause has a subject and a predicate. It conveys a full thought and can stand alone as a sentence.

One of the two independent clauses in a compound-complex sentence will be introduced by a coordinating conjunction - but, for, and, nor, or, yet, so.

A dependent clause is introduced by a subordinating conjunction - after, because, etc.. It also has a subject and a predicate, but it cannot stand alone as a sentence.

We can break down the sentence we are analyzing here in the following manner:

1. Independent clause: "He left in a hurry"

2. Dependent clause: "after he got a phone call"

3. Independent clause: "but he came back five minutes later."

Answers

Answer:

A story I wrote a year ago count is a little over 800 words.

Explanation:

It was a perfect day, long ago in a time forgotten by man and living beast of this age, living on a small island, isolated from the world. On this island was a tribe of men and women who shared the duties of survival. Living in peace for years with little violence, and beautiful children. Sunny days to walk the shore line and play games in the long grass, or sit outside and drink ale, and spirits.

However, on the darkest of days. Clouds covered the island, and mass panic struck out; while it rained fire from the sky. The villagers ran in circles, grabing at the young ones to pull them inside to safety. For they were unsure on how to respond to this unseen threat. As the smoldering smoke swirled, clearing to reveal a ship descending from the heavens.  Confused by this, the village chief  Etheldreda went to wait for the ship to land. As he stood there brave and true, eyeing the ship with a definitive look upon his face, the ramp of the ship let loose and landed. A man. No taller than he started to walk from the ship. Clad in a navy blue vest, gray tight pants, a leather halter holding his sword inches from the ground, and a flintlock on the other side.

The chief braced himself, looking stern and strong his motive to not show any fear.

“You must be the chief?” The man from the ship said with a half evil grin.

“Yes they call me such.”

“How is it you speak our language?”

“Easy when some such as yourselves have come to me. Yet here I come to you in search of more” The captain told him. The chief was unsure of the man’s motives but feared the worst. “Tell me, stranger. You seek what, here in my homeland?” He asked gesturing behind him to the village.

“I seek only the might of a nation, to keep all at bay for me. More or less I want this land to be mine.” The sleek man said with a smirk. The chief looked toward his tribe and village before speaking.

“You say this yet you shoot fire from the sky killing my people?” The Captain takes a deep breath inhaling the foul smoke of burning wood and flesh.

“Yes old man I do. It's simple really. I keep some of your people alive to make you happy, but kill a good amount to not resist me. I humble my pray before making it subdue to me.” The chief looked around at his village in ruins, “ You seek to rule an unruly bunch. I’ve learned over my lifetime never to try to take things that are not given.” As the chief said this he drew his own sword, at the ready to protect what is rightfully his.

The man at this point grinned a truly fierce wicked smile. As his sword scrapped the sheth. In one stroke which seemed like seconds as time stood still, and in one fluid movement took the chief's head, sending it spiraling toward the feet of a small child. Men and women of the village tried to take the man down only to fall at the end of his sword before he even noticed the small child staring into the eyes of the severed head. He approached the child slowly, blade at the ready to strike him down, yet as he came closer he saw no fear in the child who just stared at him with definece. “Boy? Tell me your name.” he said in the child's language. Not a word came from the child only silence, and that seemed like defiance.

“Child I will not ask your name again or fall like the others of your tribe.” he said, snarling at the child, yet he couldn’t bring himself to strike when the child did not answer. “Fine I shall give you a name when the time comes. Now take my hand and let us be off.” he said smiling extending a hand. The child took his hand seemingly not able to understand the massacre that had occurred.

“Captain! We have done it..” the man's voice trailed off as he saw the child holding the captain’s hand.

“Sir, you realize there is a small child at your side?” The captain waved a dismissive hand, at his crew member.

“Are you an idiot? Yes he is a prize for myself since I can not have children of my own this one shows promise. So I will raise him to be a fine warrior for the kingdom.” he said looking down and smiling at the child. “Now come boy we have work to do, and not as much time to do it in.” With that they boarded the flying ship and were off to a new world for the child.

No one noticed though a small group of the tribe standing on the edge of the village watching the ship disappear behind the glimmering sunlight and clouds.

You wanted to buy it because you were extremely inspired by a bike race you saw on TV a few weeks/months ago. You managed to get half the money from your dad, but the other half was from a part-time job you worked at as a barista/delivery driver/accountant whatever it is that you applied to solely for the sake of affording the bike.

Now that you've bought the bike, describe your excitement to learn riding it, your happiness of how you reached your goal and so forth. It should be easy.

Explain how a carbon atoms moves From consumers to fossil fuels

Answers

Answer:

There are a few types of atoms that can be a part of a plant one day, an animal the next day, and then travel downstream as a part of a river’s water the following day. These atoms can be a part of both living things like plants and animals, as well as non-living things like water, air, and even rocks. The same atoms are recycled over and over in different parts of the Earth. This type of cycle of atoms between living and non-living things is known as a biogeochemical cycle.

All of the atoms that are building blocks of living things are a part of biogeochemical cycles. The most common of these are the carbon and nitrogen cycles.

The history of their construction spans both ancient and modem times.ThenBuilt around 1250 B.C.E., the Great Temple of Ramses II and the smaller Temple of Hathor next to it were carved out of a mountainside. This was no easy job. Four 67-foot-high statues of Ramses flank the entrance to the Great Temple. Inside, three inner chambers extend two hundred feet into the rock. The ancient Egyptians excavated these rooms and their massive columns using, of course, only hand tools. They also used detailed calculations to carefully align the temple. As a result, at dawn on two days of the year, sunlight reaches into the third chamber. This room was a sacred sanctuary, containing the statues of four gods. The sun's rays light up the statues and symbolically awake them to life.NowIn the 1960s, Egypt built the High Dam to control the annual Nile floods. The lake that formed behind the dam would have covered the temples at Abu Simbel. Archeologists from Egypt and many other countries were alarmed, so they raised funds to move the mountainside. And that is what was done. Workers using handsaws cut the two temples into more than a thousand blocks. Each block weighed from 10 to 40 tons. The blocks were carried to safe ground 195 feet higher. Engineers then rebuilt the two temples inside a man-made concrete mountain. They were careful to place the Great Temple in the exact orientation of the original so that the gods of the sacred sanctuary are still awakened twice a year. This reconstruction was nearly as huge a feat as that of digging the temples from the rock in the first place.Select the correct answer.According to the author, why should a tourist go to Abu Simbel?A.
