Read the following excerpt Patricia Hampl’s “The Need to Say it” and answer the question.

She kept her distance from the printed word of English, but she lavished attention on her lodge newspaper which came once a month, written in the quaint nineteenth-century Czech she and her generation had brought to America before the turn of the century. Like a wedding cake saved from the feast, this language, over the years, had become a fossil, still recognized but no longer something to be put in the mouth.

In the excerpt above, what does the author imply about the Grandmother?

Her Grandmother enjoyed reading current events from her native town and country.
Her Grandmother held English books far away from her face.
Her Grandmother was jealous of the her newspaper.
Her Grandmother also read her local newspaper.

Using page 1 and the two lines at the top of page two what clues have been given out that imply that stuffy pete is probably poor or disadvantaged

Answers

Answer:

There are two clues that imply that Stuffy Pete is poor or disadvantage. In the first page, the narrator says "so we have turkey for Thanksgiving dinner, if we have  enough money to buy turkey". However, in the second page it is more clear because it is explained that Stuffy Pete was just passing by a house in the  Fifth Avenue when he was invited by a servant to eat Thanksgiving dinner.

Explanation:

To complete this exercise, you have to read the story called Two Thanksgiving Day Gentlemen written by  O. Henry. It is about Stuffy Pete and the Old Gentlemen, how they meet every year on Thanksgiving day, but it is also about generosity and traditions.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.Which of the following is the best expression of the Central Idea of the poem?

After the tourney we delivered our load to the destination and while we were coming back we got more of our favorite food fried squirrel. We loved go out to Los Angeles its our favorite place to deliver a load to because you find so much stuff out to west and instead of the south which is much interesting to look for.

Which sentence best expresses the differing opinions of these two book reviews?

Answers

Hello. You have not informed which book reviews this question is referring to. This makes it impossible for me to answer you specifically. However, I will try to help you as much as I can, giving instructions on how to answer this.

You should read both reviews and observe the position of the review author in relation to the book. It is likely that each author makes different positions on the construction of the narratives, the characters, the writing style, the events, the themes and other elements of the work. These positions can be positive, when they praise the work, or, negative, when they criticize the work. You must identify which author is being positive and which is being negative.
