When we think of luck, we think of happy things happening; things that we did nothing to deserve. “Wow, I really aced that test. I’m so lucky!” “Yeah, I won the race, but it was really just luck.”

Luck is unpredictable. It involves being in the right place at the right time, something none of us can count on doing with regularity. It does involve chance. But luck is something not entirely out of your control: you can become a luckier person by focusing on three aspects of life: attitude, expectations, and opportunities.
Lucky people have positive attitudes. If a person who considers herself lucky and a person who considers himself unlucky find themselves in an automobile accident, their descriptions of the event will vary greatly. The lucky person will be glad that she wasn’t hurt badly in the accident, while the unlucky person will consider being in an accident at all a sign of his bad luck. When you find yourself in an unpleasant situation, focus on the positive aspects of the circumstances. Consider how things could have turned out worse and be glad they didn't.
Lucky people have positive expectations. When a lucky person settles down to study for an exam, he anticipates that his efforts will lead to success. When an unlucky person considers studying for the same exam, he may decide that his time would be better spent playing video games because he never has any luck when it comes to taking tests.
