Which of these inferences about Frederick Douglass is best supported by the following passage?

You, on the other hand, have labored in a private way. I have wrought in the day – you in the night. I have had the applause of the crowd and the satisfaction that comes of being approved by the multitude, while the most that you have done has been witnessed by a few trembling, scarred, and foot-sore bondmen and women, whom you have led out of the house of bondage, and whose heartfelt, “God bless you,” has been your only reward. The midnight sky and the silent stars have been the witnesses of your devotion to freedom and of your heroism.
Answer choices for the above question

A. Douglass wishes he would have fought for freedom in Tubman’s style, not his own.

B. Douglass craves public approval more than anything else.

C. Douglass is haunted by white opposition.

D. Although Frederick Douglass is a well-known public figure, he admires Tubman’s private fight.

which sentence most clearly uses hyperbole?

Answers

Answer: C

Explanation: hyperbole is exaggeration- a term that isn't technically true, it just kind of feels like it is because of the situation, like "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse," that sort of thing.

C is overreacting a little: "We will never be able to feel safe" ever again no matter what we do "unless we set a curfew." It's being dramatic to make the point that a curfew will help us feel more safe.

I believe option C is the answer

With conviction and poise, [Bindi] offered her perspective on the topic that had defined her eight years to date. "It's very sad, but in my lifetime, a lot of wildlife could disappear," she said. "We could lose tigers, gorillas, and even my favorite koalas could become extinct. We need to continue my daddy's work and make this place safer for animals."

—Steve and Bindi Irwin,
Amy Breguet

Read the text, and make a connection to your own life. Explain how the connection helps you understand the text.

Read the excerpt from “How I Learned English.”

It was in an empty lot
Ringed by elms and fir and honeysuckle.
Bill Corson was pitching in his buckskin jacket,
Chuck Keller, fat even as a boy, was on first,
His t-shirt riding up over his gut,
Ron O’Neill, Jim, Dennis, were talking it up
In the field, a blue sky above them
Tipped with cirrus.

And there I was,
Just off the plane and plopped in the middle
Of Williamsport, Pa. and a neighborhood game,
Unnatural and without any moves,
My notions of baseball and America
Growing fuzzier each time I whiffed.

Which detail from this excerpt helps readers determine that the poem is written from a first-person point of view?

A. the description of the speaker as “unnatural”
B. the description of the boys “talking it up”
C. the use of the words “I” and “my”
D. the use of the words “his” and “them”

Answers

C, first person uses I
Like the person above me said, it is C. Anytime it’s asking if it’s in first person. Ask yourself “What point of view says I or my?” But to refresh yourself. The point of views are and what phrases they use to help you know that they’re in that point of view. First person: I, my, me, and myself. Second point of view: You. Third point of view: He, she, they, their, and they’re.

Read the excerpt from "Healthy Eating."

"I was taking all these pills like an old woman," said Naar, a neonatology nurse at Baptist Hospital. "My blood pressure is hereditary, but I added to it by adding the pounds and eating horribly every day.". . .

A nutritionist took her shopping and introduced her to the joys of cauliflower. She upped her workouts, stopped eating hamburgers three times a week and scaled back on the Cold Stone pistachio ice cream.

Today, Naar is 20 pounds lighter and down to two pills a day.

How does the author develop her argument in this part of the article?

a. She gives several reasons why people need to make changes to their eating habits and exercise routines.
b. She shares an anecdote to show that people can drastically improve their health by making small changes to their diets.
c.She provides facts to show how helpful medication and exercise can be for someone who wants to live a healthier lifestyle.
d.She uses expert quotations to show that making small changes to one's diet takes a lot of time and determination.

Answers

She gives several reasons why people need to make changes to their eating habits and exercise routines
The answer is B
How you know it is B is because An anecdote is a brief revealing account of an individual person which is what is happening here with Naar it is a brief revealing account about her and her eating. It does talk about the nutritionist however the main idea is about Naar and how she is beginning to do healthier eating and how she is managing to do that. Does not state anything about other people and reason why other people need to change there diet it only states how what she is doing.

Not sure if this helps but I actually had an assignment talking about the negative effects of video games

3 Negative Effects of Video Games

Today, there are rarely any children who haven’t experienced playing video games or similar in depth. With great responsibilities, parents are often concerned about whether or not they should let their children continue playing video games. Researchers had proven with their study that not all video games should not be taken negatively and there can be used for education. However, not all types of video games are good for children and their effects can be adverse. It is really important. Some of them can have disadvantages if a child gets addicted.

Health Issues

If the child is spending significantly a lot of time playing video games it can affect their health in several ways. Most likely, if the child is sitting in a poor posture it can cause back sore/pain. Children who constantly sit at one place playing video games for hours can face several dangerous health issues. It can increase the chances of obesity, weaken the joints/ muscles, and make hands and fingers numb due to over-exertion.

Poor Academic Performance

There are children who would enjoy playing video games far more than studying at school. It’s the basic human nature of preferring something that one’s likely to enjoy and feel comfortable with. However, preferring video games above anything else can affect academic performance which later leads to losing interest in studies.

The child may even skip classes, homework, assignments, and studies just to play video games which are not being responsible.

Exposure to Wrong Values

There are many video games that contain negative influences on children. It’s mostly likely any teen or adult-rated games would contain exposure to violence, swearing, drugs, and more. A perfect example of this would be the Grand Theft Auto series. It’s a fairly simple game with the mechanics of earning money in illegal ways to purchase anything from the game. Kids, can’t perceive things in the right matter. Video games might even inspire them to use tactics in real life. In psychology, it’s a simple matter of Imprinting.

Answers

Answer: I would create a dream where I accomplish all my goals and dreams. Where I become who I wanted to be in the end and I would give it to my myself now.

Explanation:

it shows creativity and you can add a deep personal theme/ message like “you can accomplish anything if you put your mind to it” or “ the only person standing in between you and ur dreams is you”.

If i got to get one dream, and give it to someone. I would pick happiness, and give it to someone who needs it. Many people are depressed, and i hate to see my friends/family like this. So if i truly could,i would.  So other families wouldnt have to suffer the pain of seeing someone they loved in this, deep, dark hole of depression..And i know many people are like this, and i wish to help all of them. But if i could only pick one, id pick someone who has been through everything, the worst of the worst

Undo your mean contemptuous art!—
More than in all that poetry has said,
More than in a mound or marble, in the living live the dead.

Hear now the cry of the beauty's present needs,
Of comrades leveling a thousand creeds,
Finding futility
In conflict, selfishness, hardness of heart!
10 For love has many poets who can see
Ascending in the sky
Above the shadowy passes
The everlasting hills: humanity.
O doubters of the time to be,
15 What is this might, this mystery,
Moving and singing through democracy,
The music of the masses
And of you and me—
But purging and dynamic poetry!—
20 What is this eagerness from sea to sea
But young divinity!—

I have seen doubters, with a puny joy,
Accept amusement for their little while
And feed upon some nourishing employ
25 But otherwise shake their wise heads and smile—
Protesting that one man can no more move the mass/td>
For good or ill
Than could the ancients kindle the sun

Can quench the living light in even these,
These who forget,
Eating the fruits of earth,
That nothing ever has been done

With more than a third of kids between 6 and 19 considered obese, the CDC reports, they are at substantially more risk for developing cardiovascular disease, diabetes, bone and joint conditions, and cancer.
