Read the Poem "High Dive" and then answer the prompt that follows.

High Dive

My stomach is communing with my toes

My legs - boiled noodles having no will to support

I force one foot up

then the other.

I hold fiercely to the hand rails

as I climb slowly.

The voices of my fear screech their warnings,

"Don't go! Don't go!"

Pushing my fear behind me, I step onto the board.

It quivers alive - mirroring my quaking legs.

I struggle cautiously to the end;

Cementing my feet, I lean precariously forward

and peer into the depths below.

The twinkling eyes of the ripples catch my frightened stare;

The crystalline nymphs implore me,

"Just fall forward! Stretch out your fingers. We will catch you!"

I almost believe leaning ever nearer

Then - fear grabs me.

"Don't do it! It's too far!"

The voices do battle;

I'm caught in between!

Suddenly a new voice enters the fray.

"If you're gonna jump, jump! You're holding up the line!"

I turn, aware that several bodies block my escape.

I look to the right and see my friends beckoning far beneath me.

I lock my fear away,

Place my arms over my head

and fall forward.

My fingers slice the surface

I plunge into the quiet depths

Hearing the whispers around me

"You did it! You did it!"

I emerge - smiling -

The nymphs victorious

Fear slinks away.

I leave the pool and walk back with gained confidence to where my journey began.

As the/she gets a look into the rippling water below, their fear grabs them even more. But soon, he/she states that a voice told them that if they were going to jump, to just jump. After another second of contemplation, the speaker finally overcomes their fear. Their transformation went from a person full of fear at the thought of jumping, to a person empty of that fear who cleared their mind and just did it.

Prince Prospero goes to the abbey in order to...
A. Help victims of disease to recover quickly.
B. Protect himself and his friends from disease.
C. Have a massive feast to celebrate the end of disease...
D. Pray for the recovery of those affected by disease.

Answers

Answer:

The correct answer is option B "Protect himself and his friends from disease."

Explanation:

Prince Prospero, the Prince of the kingdom is consistently cheerful, in any event, even when everybody is getting murdered. He has a preference for things that are unique.

Prince Prospero in light of practically half of the kingdom dying of red death,

He takes his nearest hundred or so companions and seeks total isolation to try not to get illness. Observe, this is extravagance stowing away they actually have food and sumptuous lives.

The explanation that Prince Prospero has welcomed his companions to the abbey is to shield them from the Red death. The Red death is an epidemic (a kind of lethal sickness, similar to the plague) which has assaulted the Prince's kingdom.

Prince Prospero is along these lines, quick to save himself and his companions from contracting quite a destructive and unsavory infection. All things being equal, he offers them safe heaven inside the dividers of his extravagant convent. What he doesn't understand, nonetheless, is that no one can get away from the Red Death not even the richest and generally secured.

The main reason why Prince Prospero goes to the abbey is to:

B "Protect himself and his friends from disease."

What is the Red Death?

This refers to a deadly pandemic which was narrated in the complete text as Prince Prospero tries to protect himself and his friends by isolating himself.

However, this is ironical because no matter what he does, the Red Death would eventually catch up to him and kill him and everyone else but he tried going to the abbey to save himself and friends.

here ya go,,

Explanation:

It has been said “Failure is not the worst thing in the world." And this is the truth. Failure has many benefits some of which are even better than succeeding. However, the fear of failure evokes stronger emotions than the possibility of success. This results in missing out on success because the pending fear of failure causes a person to avoid certain tasks. Such examples of these successes are the chances to learn from failed attempts, the motivation failure evokes from a person to succeed, and the future accomplishments which adds to a person’s talents. Negative emotions are stronger by instinct, however, if a person can overcome these emotions, a plethora of achievements will become available. In the beginning, people often refuse to try something in the fear of failing even though you can learn the most from failing. People can become scared of what will happen. To overcome the fear, you have to think of the possible positive outcomes that could come from not failing. Failing is something that no one likes to have happen because of the guilt or just the overwhelming feeling that you dropped the ball. The biggest achievement someone can achieve is when they become something from a failure because it shows that they never gave up and continually worked towards being what they always dreamed of. Failure is the way of life because life would be pretty boring if you could just breeze through everything and not work to make yourself the very best you can be.

Who was Siegfried Eifrig ?

According to Gerd Steins, a sports historian with the Berlin Sports Museum, with Siegfried Eifrig's passing on Monday, June 23, 2008, it seems possible that the last German torch bearer from the inaugural Olympic torch relay in 1936 is no longer alive.

Steins estimates that 3,000 runners took part in the relay from Athens to Berlin, although only a small number were given names.

Siegfried Eifrig, a 400-meter runner who later worked for the Berlin Marathon for many years as treasurer, passed away at the age of 98.

Germany's Berlin is where Eifrig was born. Eifrig was a gifted sprinter who competed for the Sport Club Charlottenburg (SCC) and won the 1935 4 x 400 m relay. His personal best times for the 100 and 400 meters were 11.0 and 49.8 seconds, respectively.

The morning of June 27th was clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full-summer day; the flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass was richly green. The people of the village began to gather in the square, between the post office and the bank, around ten o'clock; in some towns there were so many people that the lottery took two days and had to be started on June 26th, but in this village, where there were only about three hundred people, the whole lottery took only about two hours, so it could begin at ten o'clock in the morning and still be through in time to allow the villagers to get home for noon dinner.

Write an essay explaining when breaking the rules would be the right thing to do.

Answers

Answer:

It is in every case great to comply with the principles rather in the event that they are simply rules or required. Rules are what help keep individuals in line and a ton of the time breaking them can prompt genuine outcomes. In any case, there is a moment that you need to defy a norm for something. For instance, on the off chance that somebody was suffocating in a pool and you were not permitted to go swim in the pool then you would go save the child. You can really get rebuffed for not saving the child since you were an observer and didn't help the individual. A few principles don't correspond with others and its your decision to pick which rule to follow.

Just about the time that I am going along pretty well, I glance out the window and see two huge bald eagles swooping and tumbling in a spectacular aerial display. Naturally, I have to leave my desk and rush to the doorway to watch the performance as long as it lasts. Then, as if a conspiracy were trying to keep me from working, two otters poke their shiny heads out of the water and hang there motionless. They watch to see what I am doing. As soon as I return to my desk, seagulls wheel into my window view and screech as they search for scraps of food.
