My stomach is communing with my toes
My legs - boiled noodles having no will to support
I force one foot up
then the other.
I hold fiercely to the hand rails
as I climb slowly.
The voices of my fear screech their warnings,
"Don't go! Don't go!"
Pushing my fear behind me, I step onto the board.
It quivers alive - mirroring my quaking legs.
I struggle cautiously to the end;
Cementing my feet, I lean precariously forward
and peer into the depths below.
The twinkling eyes of the ripples catch my frightened stare;

"Just fall forward! Stretch out your fingers. We will catch you!"
I almost believe leaning ever nearer
Then - fear grabs me.

I turn, aware that several bodies block my escape.

After another second of contemplation, the speaker finally overcomes their fear. Their transformation went from a person full of fear at the thought of jumping, to a person empty of that fear who cleared their mind and just did it.

The man is named Jefferson. He married and immediately landed a prestigious job at PG laboratory. Within 10 years he grew to a managerial position. His family also grew to include 2 beautiful daughters. Life was rosy. But suddenly everything changed. First, the stock market crashed and most of his investments went with it. As he was reeling from that, his company started groaning from the general economic downturn in the country. There were talks of downsizing. On this fateful Monday, he was invited by the managing director and was informed that the firm will have to let him go. Jefferson's world collapsed. He just couldn't go home to break the news to his wife because a week before the wife had lost her job too. He just walked to a pub and drank himself to stupor. He believed he was going to wake up and found out it was just a dream. Do you know the first thing he did when he realised that it was for real? He called his wife and went to see her immediately. He told his wife that he still loved her and will like them to start seeing a councellor. It took a lot of work to mend the marriage but today as I write, the family is back together, emotionally and financially.

Do not give up and keep doing nice little things to everyone and cherish your family. Work on your differences. Forgive and forget. I am a happy man today.
